Design inspired by the iconic Chinese Camel sculptures in the Seattle Art Museum’s permanent collection

The SAM Camels originally sat on both sides of the entrance to the original Seattle Art Museum building in Volunteer Park, now the Asian Art Museum.  These originals are from China, Late 14^th-Mid 17^th century and can now be seen at SAM Downtown on the grand staircase where they are protected from the elements.  The SAM Camels outside of the Asian Art Museum are now replicas that welcome the public to interact with them.
